Inka Kivalo

The over hundred-year-old looms of Inka Kivalo, carved from spruce roots, are the starting point of her textile art. Kivalo is one of the leading names in Finnish textile art, and is inspired by the tradition of textiles. He brings ancient weaving techniques to life through play and joy, painting with yarn and bringing color to his works. Kivalo also uses embroidery technology, as in Hotel AX’s artwork. When using the embroidery technique, she is free to move and is not tied to one place.

Kivalo’s works are like windows to colored worlds. Everything is based on a new thread, which she assembles himself. Kivalo strives to make life more beautiful: she became a textile artist because colors glow softer in textiles. Her works bring out the atmosphere and hint.
