Pekka Jylhä

The young sculptor Pekka Jylhä got excited to draw and paint the river landscape near his hometown which started his interest in arts. At the School of Art and Design, he found himself skilled in sculpture.

One of the most important ideas in Jylhä’s art is that the material in the work plays an important role as a mediator of the idea. The material itself is also a message – the crystal is associated with lightness and wood with naturalness. Successful works are those that develop him as an artist through physical work. The themes of Jylhä’s works are often linked to the history or purpose of the place where the work was performed.
